Xbox Black Friday Sale 2020
« on: November 19, 2020, 09:18:14 PM »
I'm guessing the sale is starting up because some fairly new games are on sale for some nice prices. I'm just a few thousand points shy of a $100.00 gift card so I think I'm going to buy something for around $25.00 which would give me 2000 points and put me at 91,236 points which would get me that $100.00.

I'm looking at the following games:

Control: Ultimate Edition (includes the XS upgrade) - $20.00
Star Wars: Squadrons - $24.00
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered - $30.00 - this will probably be on EA Play(Game Pass) in a year though if that combo continues
The Division 2: Warlords of New York DLC/Expansion - $9.00
Maneater (XS Optimized) - $26.00
Borderlands 3 Super Deluxe Edition (XS Optimized) - $48.00
Sniper Ghost Warrior: Contracts - $14.00

Sunset Overdrive - $5.00 - just so I can own a digital copy and not a Gold one

There may be something else that turns up in the next few hours/days so I haven't decided on just what I want to get just yet but this is a start to decide on.

Also, if you want to get Saints Row 3 Remastered it's on sale for $24.00.

It's also annoying that Watch Dogs Legion Ultimate Edition is on sale for $80.00 because I just bought it last month for $120.00. It's also weird that the store says it's around 45GB in size yet my install is 37GB.

If you think you'll spend $50.00 on games during this sale be sure to do the punch card in the Rewards app because they're giving 5000 points.

I just bought Control Ultimate Edition which includes the XS upgrade and it pushed me just over the 91,000 point mark so I can now grab a $100.00 gift card. Now I have to decide on what games of those listed in my first post that I really want over those that I can wait on.

Both Borderlands 3 and Maneater would give me a few more XS Optimized games so I'm leaning towards those and then I'm also looking at the Division 2 expansion because it's the cheapest I've ever seen it and it's by itself for a change because it's usually bundled with the base game which I have had for over a year now.

It's mainly between Star Wars and Need for Speed on which I would probably play more before another sale or price drop. Of course these would all free games so that at least cuts out the sting on if I hate something on any of them.

I didn't realize there was an even pricier version of Borderlands 3 that isn't on sale. I see there's an Ultimate Edition($100.00) that includes a second season pass that the one I was looking at for $48.00 doesn't have. I would rather wait and grab that version whenever it goes on sale instead of paying $48.00 now and then $30.00 later for the second season pass or waiting possibly months for it to go on sale.

Star Wars: Squadrons - $24.00
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered - $30.00
The Division 2: Warlords of New York DLC/Expansion - $9.00
Maneater (XS Optimized) - $26.00

With tax I can all of these for a little less than $95.00 so this may be my buy list on the sale. I can also add in Sunset Overdrive for $5.00 and call it a day on that gift card.

I am looking at the Fallout 4 Game of the Year Edition for $20.00 though since I never really started it. This has all the DLC and would allow me to ditch my disc license for digital as I only have a few of those left these days.

I was about to buy Maneater and then saw in the reviews that it has a game killing save bug where you randomly lose progress because the game doesn't actually save. This was the reason I stopped playing Need for Speed Rivals and I loved that game. I played for hours getting my racer side to level 50 and then out of the blue I was back to level 30. I played nonstop to 50 again and then the next time I played I was level 18. This kept happening over and over. I even had achievements for levels where I was at previously but it didn't matter. The progress just vanished. Now I don't know if I want to get Maneater or not just because of this. Supposedly a fix happened but I still see comments that it didn't work.

I bought all of these with my rewards earned $100.00 credit:

Star Wars: Squadrons - $24.00
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered - $30.00
The Division 2: Warlords of New York DLC/Expansion - $9.00
Maneater (XS Optimized) - $26.00
Cartoon Network: Battle Crashers - $3.00
More Dark - $4.00

In the end I had to add $1.06 of my money but other than that everything I got on the list was from doing rewards every day.
